Q: How strange is your love, Mary Worth?
A: If you follow the Comics Curmudgeon — and you should, by the way — you know that Mary Worth (of Mary Worth fame) recently took an unexpected yet expectedly boring trip to Vietnam, to chase some humanitarian dude she wanted to get on.
Upon finding him, she began the arduous task of guilting him into returning home. And I mean "arduous" as in "for readers," because it involved several weeks of circular dialogue. I had kind of hoped the whole storyline would be a little more Apocalypse Nowey, but not so much.
Anyway. In tribute to Mary Worth's strange, burning love, I present to you this cut from Air's newly released Pocket Symphony.

SPEAKING OF STRANGE, BURNING LOVES: In January, I posted an entry on the Boston band the Sterns, wherein I expressed some confusion over the lyrics of the tainted-love song "Supreme Girl." An anonymous commenter, who may or may not been a PR flak, kindly set me straight:
Re the on "Supreme Girl" (The Sterns) - from their bio on myspace - Funny Stuff I had no idea this is what they were saying but it makes sense after reading Alex Stern's quote:Once you realize this, the song becomes 1000% awesomer. I haven't disabled the mp3 link yet, so check it out.
"That's actually a love song written from the perspective of [Supreme Court one-time nominee and Dubya pal] Harriet Myers and George Bush," winks Alex. "She was obviously a bad nominee but I felt a certain amount of sympathy for her."
